Pre-launch version: Bracketed confirmation notes remain in this policy while the app is being prepared for launch.
Ironbark is a farm record-keeping app for livestock farms. It’s made by R.A & R.P Byfield, a farming family in Tasmania (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information Ironbark collects, why, where it’s kept, and the choices you have. We’ve tried to keep it plain. If anything isn’t clear, get in touch using the details at the bottom.
Your account. When you sign up we collect your email address and, if you choose to add them, your display name and phone number. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address that service shares with us.
Your farm records. This is what you and your crew enter in the app, for example:
Location. Ironbark uses your phone’s location to:
Location is only used for these features. We don’t track your movements outside of them. You can turn location off in your phone’s settings, but GPS guidance and some timesheet features won’t work without it.
Timesheets. If your farm uses the timesheet feature, we store shift start and finish times, breaks, approvals, and the weekly report email address set by the farm owner.
Device and app information. We store a notification token so we can send you alerts (such as farm chat messages and tasks due), along with your device type and app version. We also collect crash reports and basic diagnostics so we can fix problems. [CONFIRM crash reporting service, e.g. Firebase Crashlytics, if used]
We don’t sell your information, use it for advertising, or build profiles about you.
Your farm. Records belong to the farm. The farm owner decides who’s invited and what role each person has (for example manager, worker, viewer or timesheets only). Members see the farm’s records that their role allows. Your name appears on records you create and on messages you send.
Service providers. We use a small number of trusted providers to run Ironbark. They only process information on our behalf:
When the law requires it. We’ll only share information with authorities when we’re legally required to.
Your records are stored on your phone and on servers in Sydney, Australia. Information is encrypted in transit. Access is controlled so each farm can only see its own records. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
We keep your information while your account is active. Farm records are often needed for compliance (for example chemical and treatment records), so they stay with the farm until the farm owner deletes them or closes the farm. When you delete your account, we delete your personal account details within 30 days [CONFIRM timeframe]. Records you created for a farm you belong to remain part of that farm’s records, but your account is removed.
Ironbark is made for farm businesses and isn’t aimed at children under 13.
If we make important changes, we’ll update the date at the top and let you know in the app.
